My background with personalized learning is not that big, as it comes from the things I’ve learned through my classes. I’ve been through classes with amazing instructors that I look up to, and I’ve put my instruction and pacing skills into my group projects and assignments, and during my co-op, where I was able to teach and show my ideas to multiple teams. However, there are many things I still have to learn through this class, and I belive this will help me get a better idea of this topic and how I can develop and put this skill into practice.
From my social media background, I’m a person who uses social media in my daily life. I use it for my personal relationships by having conversations with classmates, friends, and family, from texting, sharing photos and videos to having video calls with them. Additionally, I use social media in more educational and professional settings, as I have a LinkedIn account that I use frequently to interact with classmates and coworkers, I personally believe that it is essential and important to be active on these social media platforms, as they are a big place where people spend a lot of time, and as technology adapts, education should as well. That is one reason why I’m taking this course, as I want to achieve a better understanding of personalized learning and its relation to learning theory, and put it more into practice. I truly belive, this is important for everyone, no matter what industry you work in, to be able to teach and share your ideas, either in a project, presentation, in a class, or to clients.
In this course, I’m looking to apply all I’ve learned to my social media and develop a personal learning network that will support my relevant information with a repertoire of my previous work and projects. I believe that this is something really helpful for my personal career, and I’m eager to start my project to create something helpful and put into practice the lectures and material from this class. The biggest concern that I believe I’ll go through during my project will be how to engage attention from my users, as it has to be important and relevant information but also has to be engaging enough, as attention spans are shorter these days, and social media has evolved toward short formats, either in videos or texts. So, it will be a great journey with a lot to learn!
